Chhatra Sagar

Honey buzzard, marsh harrier, eagle owl, twin spotted owlets- just saw these on our way out this morning from the magical camp at Chhatra Sagar reservoir. Over the last two days we've seen enough to whip a twitcher into a lather of frenzied excitement.
I don't want to bore you, but highlights included an osprey, flamingoes, radiant kingfishers, green beecatchers, a black shouldered kite dining on a mouse, grey heron, great egret, hoopoe, plumheaded and green paraqueets, ruddy shelduck - all seen from the porch of our tent!

Note that tea was served with tiffin here.

The Mehmsahib also made friends with Sacko, the camp great dane.
Ok, so communing with nature has its drawbacks- we had to slum it in a tent, but I don't remember it ever being like this in the scouts.

"Bed-tea" was served in the morning to provide refreshment as we undertook the first duty of the day- to observe the sunrise from the confines of our bunk!

I had a funny feeling this might be my sort of place when we were given instructions for our late afternoon nature trail soon after we arrived- "just follow the track until you come to the Gin & Tonic"

I'm still working on my "Bill & Ben" impersonation.
