Halong Bay

After an exciting couple of days dodging motorcycles in Hanoi, we set off for an overnight boat trip in Halong Bay.
The tour includes a 4hr coach trip from Hanoi to Halong and back. We arrived about midday for lunch on the boat.

Then it was a stop at a floating village for a spot of canoeing around the islands

before the evening cocktail party

We managed to keep relatively warm by wearing just about everything we had.
After a comfortable night in a well-appointed cabin

we were off to climb Titop island

and visit some limestone caves.

Our guide enjoyed pointing out shapes in the rock which looked like objects. Here's an example (answers on a postcard please)...

After an early lunch it was back to Hanoi to catch the overnight sleeper train south to Hue in search of warmer climes.

I had 6 layers on here outside the caves. It was so cold in Hanoi today they closed the schools!
