Hue the lads

We arrived in Hue ( pronounced ha'way) after an overnight sleeper train journey from Hanoi, having spent the night in a 4 berth compartment with our new friends Philippe and Andrez from the exotic New Caledonia.

We found a decent hotel with help from our taxi driver Cong Anh, and went off to look around the forbidden Purple Palace, where we bumped into P&A again!

Among other things we found a dragon sitting in an English telephone box.

We had a walk around town and stopped for lunch at a street cafe where we had what turned out to be duck noodles. So far in Vietnam street chow shops we've had chicken, beef, seafood and duck noodles- all great!
The next day Cong Ahn drove us to Hoi An via a local fishing village, the Marble Mountain and a pearl workshop (Mehmsahib's favourite of course)

The fishermen live in their boats.

You could end up with one of these if you eat too many noodles!

Where did that necklace come from?

Glad we didn't take the motorbike taxi this time.
